The Court confirmed that Apple has to pay 368 million dollar company VirnetX for patent infringement

Last November, the court sided with VirnetX in a dispute with the company Apple , obliging the latter to pay for patent infringement 368.2 million dollars. Patents appearing in the case, refer to the technology of virtual private networks used by Apple in the video features FaceTime. More precisely, it is a patent N 6502135, 7418504, 7921211 and 7490151, issued by the U.S. Patent Office.
As it became known this week, the Court of the Eastern District of Texas Apple heard the appeal and upheld that decision.
Simultaneously, the court dismissed the petition Apple to reconsider the case and reduce the amount of payment. In addition, the court granted the petition of VirnetX interest on the amount of damage. In particular, the court ordered Apple to pay for each day after the verdict in November, before the announcement of the final decision in the amount of interest and 33,561 dollar damages in the amount of 330,201 dollars. VirnetX petition to ban U.S. sales of the products Apple, which revealed violations was rejected. Instead, the court ordered the parties to enter into a license agreement within 45 days. If they can not agree, VirnetX must be submitted to court.
Given the court's decision, VirnetX intends to withdraw a complaint filed with the U.S. International Trade.
