Started yesterday at the event in Barcelona MWC 2013 Intel introduced Intel XMM 7160 modem that supports LTE, DC-HSPA + and EDGE. According to the manufacturer, production XMM 7160 is part of a "strategy to create industry-leading solutions through a modem that will support a variety of ranges, modes, regions, and devices."
Scope of the Intel XMM 7160 called smart phones, tablets and mobile computers Ultrabook. Allegedly, Intel XMM 7160 - one of the most compact and energy-efficient solutions in its class. The manufacturer also says the modem in many modes and frequency bands.
The modem supports 15 ranges LTE, which, according to Intel, superior performance level of all the other solutions on the market. Recall, in the second half of the year the situation will change - then to begin deliverysolutions for the mobile radio channel Qualcomm RF360 , which covers all ranges of LTE.
The architecture of the RF modem is characterized by advanced configuration settings, which, in particular, enables the tracking of energy consumption (power management in real-time according to the needs of the RF), extending.
Currently Intel offers solutions for 4G LTE networks to support a single event. Deliveries will begin in the multi-mode solutions current half-year, in coordination with the release of single-chip mobile platforms.
